Omar has been making great Soul music for 35 years with his own distinctive style. His eighth studio album ‘Brighter The Days’ is his most sophisticated to date, 17 tracks with a positive optimistic message. ‘This Thing Called Life’ has a lush groove with strings and horns and is a real stand-out track. ‘Can We Go Out’, another standout, has a very infectious riff, typically Omar a great track. There are many duets and collaborations on the album. ‘Holding On To Life’ is a killer, gorgeous mid tempo groover featuring Ledisi singing at her sultry best. India Arie’s smokey vocals grace the slightly more uptempo ‘Love Is Like’, Honey Larochelle sings on the more groove-ridden ‘Research’ and Eric Roberson and Raheem DeVaughn join Omar ‘Lovey Dovey’. ‘On My Own’ featuring Paul Weller has a 60’s/Mod Soul approach and features Ronnie Foster on Organ. ‘Brighter The Days’ has a more 70s Soul approach. ‘There’s Much Love In The World’ is a lovely mid tempo track with great orchestral backing whilst ‘Latin Salsa’ unsurprisingly has a latin influence and features Max Beesley Jr on Vibes and Percussion. Very strong album from one of the leading UK Soul artists.
