‘In The Beginning’ features the early 60’s recordings of Gladys Knight and the pips before they signed to Motown. Their hit ‘Letter Full of tears’ written by Don Covay and Johnny Otis ‘Every beat of my heart both from ’61 are rhythm and blues classics. Van McCoy wrote 4 of the tracks of which the dancer ‘Stop and get Hold of myself’ is the strongest. ‘Tell Her You’re Mine’ from ’65 is a good early Soul ballad.
