Lindsey Webster returns with another strong album ‘Reasons’ with nice Soul/Jazz music.
Kim Tibbs has made a really strong contemporary retro 70’s soul album in the Royal studios in Memphis co-produced and arranged by Lawrence Boo Mitchell, son of the late great Willie Mitchell and featuring 25 musicians. John Legend has a new 2CD set ‘Legend’ on Republic music. Henry Franklin is the latest 70’s jazz musician to feature in the Jazz Is Dead series with vol 14. Chip Wickham has a nice contemporary Modal Jazz album and the Greg Foat Group present ‘Blue Lotus’ on LP.
John Coltrane ‘Blue Train’ is the latest in the Blue Note Tone Poet Analogue master series and is presented as either a Mono Single Lp or double Stereo LP (with outtakes) and on 2CD.
Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong Again is the latest in the Analogue Acoustic Sounds Series, and Joe Lovano ‘I’m All For You’ in the Blue Note classic series. Joe Bataan ‘Gypsy Woman’ is a Latin/Soul classic from 1967 and reissued in the Concord/Craft series. Vince Guaraldi classic christmas album has a limited edition Gold foil cover issue and there are two Ian Carr/Nucleus reissues on Be With. Studio 16 has two Lee Perry Black Emperor LPs. We are back in stock of D’Angelo classic ‘Brown Sugar’ on LP plus a couple of long out of print Soul Brother cd titles.
We are also sad to learn of the passing of Jazz legend Ramsey Lewis at the age of 87. Malcolm has written an obituary which you can read here
