New releases and pre-orders 18th of October 2019

New releases this week include the highly anticipated album from Cornell CC Carter – Absoulutely – which further enhances his reputation as a new soul force. Hannah Williams & The Affirmations return with the powerful 50 Foot Woman – they’ve beefed up the sound and added some blues touches to the heavy funk template and the result is a juggernaut of an album, while vocalist Alicia Olatuja’s stunning tones grace her powerful album Intuition Songs From The Minds Of Women, a set of cover versions that stand along well against the originals. Expansion treat us to four Al Hudson & The Soul Partners albums across two CDs with Spreading Love & Happy Feet, and Especially For You & Cherish complied respectively, Marvin Gaye’s 1972 live Kennedy Centre performance of What’s Going On takes the classic album on an inventive journey while Leon Ware’s final offering before his passing in 2017 sees the light of day at last. Loleatta Holloway, Pharoah Sanders and Chick Corea are also featured on reissues while Super Disco Edits release the in demand Soundtrack from Stu Gardner from the film that never saw a release!
