Previously unreleased demo material from the group who would come to wider attention in soul collector’s cirles with their brilliant ‘I’m Under Your Spell’ 7″ (not included here). Mind & Matter included Jimmy Jam Harris amongst their 11 members and were certainly on the experimental side of things as this great 9 track album shows. Raw production values give the feel almost of walking in on a practise session with fragile sweet vocals blending over rhodes and clavinet lines to die for. The recording is obviously stained by the ravages of time with tape hiss aplenty but that adds to the charm and feel of this vital release.
