50 Years of Funk & Soul: Live at the Fox Theater – Oakland, CA – June 2018

Tower of Power celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2018 with this gig at the fox theater in their home town of Oakland. The 15 piece band consisted of current and previous members of the band including Chester Thompson on Organ. The 22 tracks featured many of their classic cuts including the funky soul ‘You ought to be having fun’ , ‘Soul with a Capitol S’, ‘Soul Vaccination’ , ‘What is hip’, ‘Squib cakes ‘, plus the great ballads including ‘Just when we start makin it’, ‘So very hard to go’ . There is also a 9min tribute to JB ‘Diggin on James Brown’.

’50 years of Funk and Soul’ is a great show and fitting tribute to one of Soul music’s greatest and longest running bands.
