Detroit stalwart Amp Fiddler is back with a multi-genre spanning set of killer funk, boogie and groove heavy dancefloor burners with ‘Motor City Booty’ – a nod both to his home town and the P-Funk that runs through much of this set of infectious laser-cut soul. ‘Slippin’ On Ya Pimpin’ has a Roy Ayers vibe, the club funk of ‘I Got It’ is impossible to sit still to while the throwback ‘Soul Fly Part 1’ has a stomping beat. The deep boogie bass of ‘Superficial’ creates the perfect party groove while Gregory Porter’s ‘1960 What?’ is a given a Sly Stone twist in the vocals atop a pumping tempo. ‘Funk Is Here To Stay’ is an apt moniker or a tune that represents the feel of this album while ‘Your Love Is All I Need’ is a pulsating soulful house number. Superb, delightfully executed nu-funk.
