Leon Thomas was one of the most unique Jazz vocalists. His influence can be heard in the Spiritual Jazz of modern times especially in Dwight Trible. This anthology contains 12 of his best recordings, mainly for the Flying Dutchman label from 1969 to 1973. ‘Prince of Peace’ and ‘The Creator has a masterplan” are simply beautiful Spiritual Jazz masterpieces. ‘Just in time to see the Sun’ ,
‘Shape your mind to Die’ and ‘It’s my life I’m fighting for ‘ are incredibly intense fusion with powerful lyrics. Leon gives another dimension to the jazz classics ‘Song for my father’ , “Bags Groove’ and ‘Little Sunflower’. The musicians include Pharaoh Sanders, Lonnie Liston Smith,  Bernard Purdie,  Pee Wee Ellis, Joe Beck, Larry Coryell and many others who with Leon made some incredibly powerful and uplifting music that still sounds fresh nearly 50 years on. This anthology was the first record on the Soul Brother Records label and 20 years on it is still amongst the best.

Can’t say enough about this one!
So glad it got released by Soul Brother Records.
Haven’t stopped playing it since i bought it some 12 yrs ago.
Leon Thomas was a shaman…his throaty rasp invokes magic and awe.
He is irreplacable. When he was with Santana the whle band were pushed to the limit.
Every track on here is superb. “‘Sun Song “‘ is my favourite (to be played on a summers day)
“‘Shape Your Mind To Die”‘ will stir you. Incredible lyrics!
This TEN star CD will take you to another zone entirely.
