Lonnie Liston Smith’s debut album for Flying Dutchman from 1973 reveals the talent that was to become oneof the biggest Jazz artists of the 70’s. ‘Astral Travelling’ is a beautiful mid tempo track underpinned by Cecil McBee’s bass lines and David Lee on drums allowing Lonnie’s keyboards and George Barron’s sax to float above them. ‘Revelation’ is another great track with a strong melody and Lonnie’s characterstic keyboard textures. ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord’ and ‘I Mani (faith)’ are more spiritual. Deep album.
