‘Black Caesar’ is one of the great Blaxploitation soundtracks. From 1973, it contains the incredibly funky classic ‘The Boss’ and ‘Down And Out In New York City’. Lyn Collins delivers the outrageously funky and downright dirty ‘Mama Feelgood’ and try the typically JB ‘Make It Good To Yourself’. ‘White Lightening’ is a mellower affair. James Brown and arranger/ trombonist Fred Wesley were in their prime and ‘Black Caesar’ reflects that status.
