This 1976 album became the first jazz album to go Platinum , was a two time grammy winner and topped Jazz, R&B and Pop charts. Brilliantly produced by Tommy Lipuma with orchestra arranged by Claus Ogerman and features an all star cast Ronnie Foster, Phil Upchurch, Jorge Dalto, Stanley Banks, Ralph MacDonald and Harvey Mason. Five of the six tracks are delightful laid back instrumentals highlighting Benson’s guitar playing. ‘Breezin’ a cover of a Womack song, the mid tempo ‘Affirmation’, the heavily orchestrated ‘So This Is Love’ and ‘Lady’ slightly faster ‘Six To Four’ with a driving beat. The vocal cut ‘This Masquerade’ shows off Benson as a fine soulful singer and is a truly great track. Classic album an ideal backdrop to a summer’s day.
