Saxophonist Azar Lawrence recorded his debut set ‘Bridge Into A New Age’ for Prestige in 1974. It is a Spiritual Jazz gem. Jean Carn is guest vocalist on two tracks, the superb Spiritual Jazz title tune and the freer ‘The Beautiful And Omnipresent Love’. ‘Warriors Of Peace’ is a full-on Strata East type groove featuring fellow saxophonist Arthur Blythe as is the bass led ‘Forces Of Nature’. ‘Bridge Into A New Age’, an excellent debut that sounds fresh even today.
