Recorded in November 1972 but (inexplicably) unreleased by Atco at the time this 22 track CD features the original album plus 10 bonus tracks, two of which are previously unheard ‘til now. The best tracks suited to Bettye’s throaty, gravely tones are the deep, slower southern gems such as ‘If I Can’t Be Your Woman’, the pleading ‘Fortune Teller’, the heart-wrenching ‘Your Turn To Cry’ and the subtle ‘Souvenirs’. The bonus tracks include the phenomenal, moody ‘Waiting For Tomorrow’ and the funky ‘Livin’ My Life On A Shoestring’ as well as singles from 1972 and four early sides from ’62 including the superb ‘You’ll Never Change’ and the Johnnie Mae Matthews penned R&B killer ‘My Man He’s A Lovin’ Man’
