One of our favourite singers Ledisi returns with a superb tribute to Dinah Washington – one of the most sassy of Jazzy Soul singers from the 50s and early 60s
Ledisi reveals the true beauty of her voice in this setting accompanied by great musicians, recalling an era of great songs and arrangements.
‘What a difference a day made’, ‘If I Never Get To Heaven’, ‘You Don’t Know What Love Is’ are great laid back tunes. ‘Caravan” and ‘You Got What It Takes’ (ft Gregory Porter) really swing along. Ledisi is best known as a soul singer but this album, along with her ‘Feeling Orange Sometimes Blue’ and tribute to Nina, show she is equally good as a Jazz singer.
