Don Covay was a big Soul artist in his own right, but he also wrote many songs that were covered by other Soul and mainstream artists. Atlantic stablemates Wilson Pickett ‘Three Time Loser’, Aretha Franklin ‘Chain Of Fools’ Solomon Burke ‘You’re Good For me’ and Joe Tex ‘She Said Yeah’ took advantage of Covay’s songs. His classic songs ‘Sookie Sookie (Tina Britt), Pony Time (Chubby Checker), I Don’t Know What You’ve Got (Little Richard), This Old Town (Staple Singers), See Saw (Cliff Bennett) and Letter Full of Tears (Billy Fury)are all represented in this interesting compilation.
