Lalah Hathaway continues her father’s legacy by recording a live album at the Troubadour in Hollywood, where Donny recorded the first half of his famous ‘Live’ album in 1973. Her beautiful voice somehow sounds even better given the freedom of a live setting, as shown on the Snarky Puppy ‘Family Dinner’ album which won her a Grammy. She cover’s Donny’s ‘Little Ghetto Boy’ and ‘You were meant for me’ to great effect. Her own ‘Baby don’t you cry’, ‘Little Girl/Breathe’, Anita Bakers ‘Angel’, Luther’s ‘Forever for always for love’ and ‘Lean on Me’ ft Robert Glasper are all highlights. There are also two new bonus studio cuts ‘Brand New’ and ‘Whatever’. Quality music
