This live set was recorded in 1969 at the Lansdowne studios in Holland Park, London before an invited audience. Hence, it has more of a studio feel than that of a concert. The music reflects the quintet’s other eclectic recordings. ‘On Track’ is a stand out with its fast, quirky sound. ‘Pavanne’ and ‘Vignette’ are more reflective and possess that quasi Classical vibe that Don Rendell and Ian Carr imbued into their Jazz. The 13-minute long ‘Voices’ is an expansive, thoughtful composition that incorporates many elements and influences. Legendary recording from possibly the greatest British jazz group.
