(Cecil) Womack and (Linda) Womack’s debut album ‘Love Wars’ was released in 1983 and included the massive title track ‘Love Wars’, the sultry ‘Baby I’m Scared Of You’, the bluesy swagger of ‘APB’ and the dark-end ballad ‘Woman’. ‘Good Times’ wraps up what is a great debut offering from this husband/wife duo: the album is filled with a brooding tension that finally seems to partially let up at the end. This release also includes 8+minute and instrumental versions of ‘Love Wars’. ‘Radio M.U.S.I.C ‘ was released two years later in 1985 and from the off shows how the duo absorbed the production developments of the time. There’s less of a blues feel with hard edged funk/soul coming to the fore. Standouts include ‘Night Rider’, the subtle duet ‘Eyes’ and the mid tempo ‘Love’s Calling’.
