Argentine multi-instrumentalist Hugo Heredia’s 1976 LP Mananita Pampera was first released on little-known French label Côte D’Azur in 1976 before later picked up by DJ Paul Murphy and given a fresh lease of life on London’s emerging jazz dance scene. The album’s reissue will marks the first release for Murphy’s newly formed Jazz Room label. The rapid fire piano lead ‘El Beto’ is brought to life further by the driving flute, the freer ‘Tunita’ is a looser but no less urgent while ‘Al Bebbe Guia’ is another big collision of sound that drifts from free to a groove and back throughout its 9+minute journey. Brilliant stuff.
