Syl Johnson signed to Willie Mitchell’s Hi Records in 1971 and changed his style from the Chicago funky/bluesy/soul to Memphis groove. ‘We Did It’, ‘Back For A Taste of your love’ ‘Take Me To The River’, ‘I Want To Take You Home To See Mama’ and ‘Keepin Down Confusion’ have that up tempo punchy brassy Mitchell sound. Syl also shines on the ballad ‘Could I Be Falling In Love’,and the funkier ‘The Love You Left Behind’. Classic early 70’s Soul.
