Following on from his earlier set, Roy C Hammond’s 1977’s ‘More Sex And Soul’ is another southern soul offering and again the sound is heavily centered on that Hi/Fame kind of vibe – warm, bass heavy with punchy horns and Roy’s Atlanta tones gracing the music effortlessly. ‘From The Outside Looking In’ is a catchy head nodder, ‘Show Me Love, I’ll Show You Pain’ is a pure southern bluesoul while the uptempo ‘You’ve Got Everything I Need’ and ‘You’re So Good To Me’ are strong dancers. The warm ‘Great, Great Grandson Of A Slave’ show’s Roy’s socio-concious awareness coming through while the expansive slowie ‘Sho Nuf In Love With You’ is a great beat ballad. Great follow up to his ‘Sex And Soul’ album and an essential pairing.
