The quartet of Eraldo Volonte (tenor sax), pianist Renato Sellani plus drummer Lionello Bionda and bass player Giorgio Azzolini sound uncannily like a European version of the John Coltrane Quartet. Whilst not as experimental or intense, the take of ‘Summertime’ certainly has that feel. Nice versions of ‘On Green Dolphin Street’ and an experimental take on Miles’ ‘So What’ are worthy inclusions on ‘My Point Of View’. ‘Some Other Blues’ is fast flowing Hard Bop. This album was recorded in 1963.
