New album from this tight, funky New Orleans six-piece combo. There’s a strong fusion of funky jazz here with tight structured grooves coupled with improvised segments wrestling for attention. ‘Brain Storm’ is a break-neck speed blow-out, ‘Norman’ is a multi-directional jazz blast, ‘No”! No! Not In The Face!’ has a snappy beat and lots of good solos while ‘Prune Juice’ is a chugging groover with some interesting changes of direction. Strongly vintage in feel with a modern ear to the past this should please fusion fans as well as those into the likes of snarky Puppy and jazzy-funky-jazz-funk!
