Canadian powerhouse Afro-latin funkers the Souljazz Orchestra return with a full on aural assault on ‘Resistance’. With one clenched fist raised and two feet on the dancefloor there’s an air of defiance about the sound they create. ‘Shock And Awe’ has a hypnotic rhythm with a punchy feel in the beat that fits the title, ‘As The World Turns’ has Island touches while ‘Bulls Eye’ hits straight down the centre and sounds like it came direct from 70s Lagos. ‘Ware Wa’ is a pulsating, chant heavy groove while ‘Kossa Kossa’ is a deep afro boogie effort but don’t miss the gorgeous slab of Tropical-Latin crossover right at the end in the form of ‘It’s Going To Rain’: sublime! Really good set.
