Soul on the real side returns with a special volume 17 compiled by Richard Searling.
It contains 17 Modern and Northern Soul tracks mainly from small independent labels. A few are from GSF, the outstanding modern soul dancers, Anderson Brothers ‘I Can See Him Loving You’, Connie Laverne ‘Can’t Live Without Your Love’, Lloyd Price ‘Love Music’ and Skullsnaps superb ‘I’m Falling Out Of Love’. Lesser known gems include Jackie Ross & Little Milton 1981 album cut ‘I’m In Love With You’, Rudy Love and the Soul Company cover of The Whispers ‘Where Have You been’ (incorrectly credited to Tyrone Davis on release), Brief Encounter fabulous ‘Human’, Betty Everett ‘My Love To Lean On’ and Jimmy Burns & Fantastic Epics ‘Can’t Get Over’. There are some strong Northern tracks including Bobby Foster ‘If You Really Need A Friend’ from 1972 and three tracks from 1967 from Chuck Ray ‘I Don’t Mind’, Ray Cortez ‘A Dream’ and The Creations ‘ Foot Steps’ Strong compilation featuring many tracks on CD for the first time.
