‘Take a Bite’ from 1979 is probably Marlena Shaw’s most commercial sounding of all-time, though it did not sell in the quantities it should have done at the time. Produced by Disco master producer Meco Monardo (Gloria Gaynor), the album has an unashamedly Disco sound augmented as it is by orchestrations typical of its time. What was a suite and the first side of the original vinyl comprises three strong Disco dancers ‘Love Dancin’, and upbeat versions of Sam And Dave’s ‘I Thank You’ and Diana Ross’ ‘ Touch Me In The Morning’ that sound remarkably fresh. ‘No One Yet’ is a fine upbeat slice of Disco Soul. Includes the twelve inch version of ‘Love Dancin’ and remix of ‘Touch Me In The Morning’ as bonus tracks.
