The Glass Frog

British keyboard player Greg Foat has created a niche for himself with Jazz influenced ambient music. On the ‘Glass Frog’ Foat is joined by a full band including Kokoroko drummer Ayo Salawu, Trevor Walker on flugelhorn and trumpet, Binker Golding on sax and Daniel Casimir on bass, amongst other leading British Jazz musicians. There are two extended jams the laidback atmospheric ‘Sea Of Tranquility’ and the interesting 13 minute workout ‘ The Glass Frog’ where several musicians interplay and take solos as the track progresses. ‘Foals Of Epona’ has a really nice groove with strong percussion and good interchange between sax and trumpet and is a highlight. ‘Novilunium’ is another strong track that builds to a crescendo. ‘Clusters’ and ‘My Love Has Green Eyes’ are nice relaxing more ambient tracks, but quality music as is the album throughout.
