This long-lost, never heard before, JBs ‘These Are the JBs’ debut album. It was recorded with Bootsy Collins and scheduled for release on King records in 1971, but only 2 acetate copies are known to exist. It is finally released as a limited edition Black Friday release of only 3,000 vinyl copies. It includes the full part 1 & 2 version of ‘These Are The JBs plus ‘The Grunt’ and two unissued tracks. ‘I’ll Ze’ is a near 11 min Instrumental Funky jazz version of Marva Whitney’s ‘It’s My Thing’ on which the band really stretch out. ‘When you feel it Grunt If You Can’ is a 13 minute hard hitting funk jam combining Kool and the Gang’s ‘Let the music take your mind’, The Meters and other grooves. The album has been mastered specifically for Vinyl from the Original James Brown 2-track stereo master and is presented in a thick tip-on Stoughton jacket with a beautiful 12 page A4 booklet with rare photos and notes from JB historian Alan Leeds.

  1. “Raw Neck”

I have a music collection running into the the thousands, rare groove, jazz fusion and funk, including little gems like the exocist by the devils ( if you collect funk, you will know what i am talking about ) on the peoples record label ) , but i will go as far as this, my collection is nothing without this number , Ill Ze is just simply a classic JB track , it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, which is what my collection is all about ,I am grunting , i am grunting .

  2. Ian MacFarlane (verified owner)

Very pleased with my order from SB, vinyl in pristine order (as it should be) and great to hear the band laying down the funk from back in the day which pre-dates my introduction to the genre by a few years but then the music was better then i.e. pre-disco wasn’t it?
