2020 is the 30th Anniversary of the release of The High’s debut LP. After signing to London Records over the strength of one gig supporting Inspiral Carpets at The Ritz, Manchester, THE HIGH went onto record some of the most well crafted indie pop songs of the early 1990’s. The chiming Box Set Go, melodically beautiful Take Your Time and the haunting classic Up & Down, along with recording a timeless classic debut album Somewhere Soon. Taken from some of the sessions that built up to the release of their debut long player are a clutch of recordings made by the legend that is Martin Hannett . The appearance of the name Hannett, aloof producer behind Joy Division, The Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses should set the tongues of music’s in crowd drooling with excitement.
