Originally due to be released as a Record Store Day album, this limited run of vinyl has been issued instead and features a stellar line up of Brownswood acts. All cuts were recorded live at BBC Maida Vale . The superb funky jazz of Joe Armon-Jones featurig Asheber on ‘Starting Today’ kicks things off – a brilliant, soaring slab of energy, and in fact, Armon-Jones features on most of the album. The gorgeous, warm vibes of ‘Do You Really’ finds Oscar Jerome in fine form, the super-talented Fatima joins Joe on the shimmering ‘Only’ while Nubya Garcia and Armon-Jones join forces on the punchy ‘Hold’. Hak Baker and Joe collaborate on the superbly ominous sounding dub of ‘Thirsty Thursday’, the Ishmael Ensemble offer up two numbers in the form of ‘The Chapel’ and, ‘Tunnels’ while Armon-Jones signs things off with his own ‘Almost Went Too far’. Brilliant stuff and one to grab before they go!
