In the 80’s and 90’s, Alice Coltrane recorded a series of chants, prayers and songs that reflect her spiritual journey and reflect the meditations at her ashram (monastery) on various tapes. They have now been cleaned up and released on this highly spiritual album. The ten pieces featured here include a version of ‘Journey To Satchidananda’. The music is transcendental, beautiful and quite hypnotic, fusing Coltrane roots in Afro-American churches, Jazz, Folk and of course Hindu mysticism.
