Dayton, Ohio’s Sun were signed to Capitol Records for most of their lifespan and this set groups together their first three albums from 1976-78. The sound is very much in the style of the acts and region of the time (Dayton, Zapp etc) : dancefloor 70s funk with fluid, well polished musicianship and technical innovation thrown in, couple with soulful moments. Standouts are the mid tempo ‘Give Your Love To Me’, the brassy ‘Boogie Bopper’, the pacey disco-funker ‘We’re So Hot’ as well as the spaced out super-cosmic ‘Conscience’. Perhaps the biggest track of recent times is the stunning ‘Just A Minute Of Your Time’ – a faultless slab of mid 70s funky soul. ‘Dance (Do What You Wanna Do)’ is somewhat underplayed and sounds so right for exposure. ‘You Don’t Have To Hurry’ also hits the mark.
