WAREHOUSE FIND Betty Everett recorded this fantastic slice of lower mid tempo soul ‘ Wondering’ for the Fantasy label in 1974. This beat ballad with a kick has gained popularity on the rare groove 2-step scene and is a wonderful song writtten by Johnny Guitar Watson , with arrangements by David Axelrod , both these giants co-producing the track. WAREHOUSE FIND Brief Encounter were a band from North Carolina who recorded many great sides for a variety of labels in the 70’s and early 80s which are in demand. ‘What About Love’ is a great funky modern soul dancer recorded for the Capitol label in 1976., original copies sell for about £150. ‘Got A Good Feeling’ is another funky soul dancer with an EWF influence from 1977, which also sells for a similar value. WAREHOUSE FIND Produced by Leroy Hutson and Curtis Mayfield, released by Just Sunshine Records, over the course of five years, the community-based collective Voices Of East Harlem blessed the world with three albums and a whole string of funky singles, including these two cult tracks. “Wanted Dead Or Alive” is straight up funk with a strong splash of gospel. Another great warehouse find Charlie Mitchell recorded this great version of the fantastic  J R Bailey/Ken Williams song 'After Hours' for the Janus label in 1973. It was produced by Tony Silvester and arrangements by Bert De Coteaux giving it a more sophisticated soul sound. Original copies are hard to find and sell for up to £150. Another find from the vaults... Crystal Clear were a female vocal group from Philadelphia who released two singles on the Polydor label in 1980,  both of which were  co-produced by Doug King , who also produced Vaneese & Carolyn for the same label (also released on Soul Brother). ‘Stay With Me’ is a great mid tempo 2 stepper which has been in demand for many years and has sold for £600. The track is arranged and conducted by Philly Soul legend Morris Bailey. We are delighted to reissue this track on a 45 for the first time outside of Japan....

Another great warehouse find from the depths of the shop. Future Flight were a five member group assembled by legendary Detroit producer Lamont Dozier in 1981. They consisted of five singers and musicians who individually and collectively worked with Lamont in the late 70s and early 80s, in particular the 1981 “Lamont” album (including “You Outta Be In Pictures”, “I Ain’t Playing” etc).
