There aren't that many new albums and singles this week, but they are of some amazing quality both new and reissues.The Haggis Horns have made what i believe is there best album to date 'Stand up for Love' by adding the soulful vocals of John McCallum they have given their music another dimension reminiscent of funky soul of the mid 70's. Kaidi Tatham initially released his superb and groundbreaking 'In search of Hope' album in Japan in 2008 which is now very difficult to find but thankfully First Word have reissued it on 180gm Double Lp and Cd, this is an essential contemporary New Jazz/broken Beat album don't miss it this time around. Muriel Grossman has made a very nice new spiritual jazz album 'Elevation' out on both formats on Jazzman. The Tramp label have created a nice compilation series 'Praise Poems' featuring obscure soul/jazzy/folky and some gospel tracks from the 70's. Volume 7 is another strong comp and includes Marva Josie superb 'He does it better' which you can pre-order on 45 for next week. Sparkle is an incredibly rare Disco album from 1979 incl their monster 'Let yourself go' , Rahni harris 'Six million steps'  and 'Disco madness' now reissued in a gatefold sleeve. there are another couple of classic Blue Note vinyl titles and another two great double A side 45's from Deptford Northern Soul. Richard Spaven 5ive was intended as a record store day release but has been issued this week as a limited edition clear vinyl LP, anything on Jazz refreshed sells out quickly so don't sleep on this one. It is a good week for new releases and reissues with many really nice titles this week. Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes combine to create 'What Kinda Music' a very interesting album on Blue Note, available on CD, DBL Lp and Deluxe Lp with a booklet.
