The Emotions recorded their second album 'Untouched' for the Stax subsidiary Volt in 1972. It includes the superb funky break beat track'Blind Alley' which has all the elements of Southern Soul produced by David Porter and was sampled over 100 times by artists like Tribe called quest, Pete Rock, Gangstar, 2Pac and Swv amongst many others. Other noteworthy tracks are the Isaac Hayes written and produced orchestrated ballad 'Show Me How' and mid tempo groovers Take Me Back' and ' Nothing Seems Impossible' plus the more upbeat 'Its Been Fun' . Check out this batch of 35 Original Vinyl 12" from the Soul Brother Vaults. There are some hard to find titles here along with many classics, most of the records are in the £10 to £15 price range. Most records are in at least Excellent condition in their original disco bags or printed sleeves as indicated. Spice recorded their only album 'Let There Be Spice' in 1976 for the infamous NY label TSG, a subsidiary of LPG (Lloyd Price) owned by boxing promoter Don King. Like all releases on the label they were only distributed in small quantities in local areas of The Bronx and are now very rare and collectable , original copies now fetch £1000. The album includes the standout Jazz-funk groover 'Happy Music' and the Brass Construction sounding funky groove 'Do It Nice'. Warehouse find China Burton only made one record, this underground disco /rare groove track 'You Don't Care (About Our Love) in 1979 for the UK Logo label. It has an infectious groove and superb production from Adam Sieff reminiscent of Rose Royce at the time. The original record is very hard to find now and sells for £250. This remastered 12" was released for RSD 2024 on the Soul Brother label and has been out of print for sometime, a few copies have been found at the back of the shop. Leon Ware recorded this classic self-titled album for the Elektra label in 1982. It includes his all time rare-groove classic 'Why I Came To California' one of the most definitive soul records of its era. Also included is the mid tempo groove 'Slippin Away' and the superb dancer 'Lost in Love With You' and mid tempo dancer 'Can I Touch You There' and lovely floaters 'Miracles' and 'Somewhere'. Warehouse find on the soul brother label First time on CD for this rare 1969 album augmented by six non album singles to give the complete James brown productions of Hank. The funkier album tracks ‘How You Gonna Get Respect’ , ‘With Your Sweet Lovin Self’, ‘Unwind Yourself’ , ‘Come on Wit It’ and ‘Funky Soul Train are typical JB late 60’s grooves backed by The Dapps. The singles ‘Butter Your Popcorn’ , ‘Blackenized’ a brilliant jazzy soul floater with social commentary lyrics, ‘Annie Had A baby’ , ‘Finger Poppin Time’ and his rare groove classic ‘From The Love Side’....
