It is an amazing week for new releases and probably the last big week of the year. Greg Foat has made one of the best Jazz albums of the year 'The Dreaming Jewels' a Funky Modal jazz album of the highest order. Ropeadope label have a fresh batch of releases the best being Captain Supernova, but also check Javier Santiago, Crown and Casimir Liberski. Tenderlonious early album 'On Flute' gets a welcome repress on 22a and there is a great collection of Tribe recordings from Detroit 1990-2014. It's a great week for New and Reissue Jazz releases. Sokratis Votskos may not be a familiar name but he has made a beautiful new Spiritual and Modal Jazz album out on CD and Lp on Jazzman. Matthew Halsall's two 2008/2009 albums have been released for the first time on vinyl in remastered and remixed form with bonus cuts and document his earliest recordings with flautist Chip Wickham, saxophonist Nat Birchall, harpist Rachael Gladwin, bassist Gavin Barras and drummer Gaz Hughes.
