James Brown – Godfather of Soul

James Brown was one of the main artists that got us into soul music in the first place in the late 60’s/early 70’s, he was also the catalyst of the rare groove scene in the mid to late 80’s, and his music has formed the basis of 100’s of hip hop tracks. Nimbus Records Special

Throughout the late 70's and early to mid 80's L.A's Nimbus records produced a steady flow of quality Spiritual Jazz albums. The musicianship on these is outstanding and whilst the albums may not be quite as heavy or as well known as those Strata East or Black Jazz, they deserve much greater recognition.
