New releases There are some good new releases this week, Al Jarreau's tribute to his old friend George Duke being the pick of the crop. The Revelations (now without Tre Williams) give us a strong retro soul album, and Bobby Hutcherson teams up David Sanborn and Joey Defrancesco for his return to the Blue Note label. There are also good reissues from Cymande, Faith Hope and Charity and others. Bob Marley's Legend collection receives a 30th Anniversary re-package with a remastered CD and Blu Ray audio double pack and a Tri Colour Double Vinyl Set, and Virgin's Frontline label is revived...
Japanese CDs just arrived
There are some fantastic Soul ,Funk and Jazz titles just released in Japan which will be arriving in our new shipment next week. HORACE SILVER JAZZ LEGEND AND PIANO MAESTRO PASSES… It is with great sadness that we, at Soul Brothers, report the loss of one of Jazz’s all-time greats – Horace Silver. He was 85. Horace (alongside Art Blakey and Hank Mobley) introduced me to the wonders of Hard Bop. The pianist’s music was always accessible, highly melodic and oh so damn funky (in a Jazz sense).
