Continuing our ‘Back To The 80’s feature that last month showcased the Boogie Times label, this month we are proud to switch the spotlight to the Funky Town Grooves label. On this dedicated feature we put the spotlight on 15 reissues and 3 compilations from the label. This is just the first tranche of Funky Town Grooves releases; we will feature part 2 in October. Nimbus Records Special
Throughout the late 70's and early to mid 80's L.A's Nimbus records produced a steady flow of quality Spiritual Jazz albums. The musicianship on these is outstanding and whilst the albums may not be quite as heavy or as well known as those Strata East or Black Jazz, they deserve much greater recognition.
