Charles Bradley burst into the scene with his debut album a couple of years back and now makes a great more soul oriented follow up with Victim of Love. The Relatives and Menahan Street band also follow that retro 60's/early 70's oul/funk sound. Marc Evans and Groove Odyssey serve up some soulful house. There are great comps from Millie Jackson and Denise LaSalle, and Liberation Music and a fantastic value for money 3CD Beginners guide to Jazz funk that has some fantastic tunes. This must be one of the biggest weeks for new releases reissues and comps for a long time, with nearly 50 titles arriving. Bluey makes his solo debut with a good album, Doggett brothers and Heidi Vogel also have strong albums and the vinyl issues of elements of life and jose james are now in.
