Quiana Lynell is the latest winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal competition to record for the Concord label, pipping Tatiana Lady May Mayfield to follow in the footsteps of Ashleigh Smith and Jazzmeia Horn. Quiana has a beautiful voice which excels on this album mainly consisting of covers. Monte Croft guests on vibes on the brilliant ‘We Are’ and great version of ‘Move Me No Mountain ‘, and on rhodes on Hathaway/Hutson’s ‘Tryin Times’. ‘A Little Love’ is a lovely version of the Barry Mann standard, but this album oozes class throughout.
