From the same label that gave us Charles Wilson’s great ‘Troubled Child’, ‘Back In Style’ although a new recording sounds as if it had been recorded in Memphis in the early to mid 70’s, and features a full band incl members of the Memphis Horns. The mid tempo ‘Half Smile’ has an almost Norman Whitfield style semi-funky approach. ‘Rained all night’ and ‘I’m In Good’ are typically Willie Mitchell style horn backed mid tempo groovers. There’s a good version of Sam Dees classic ‘Just Out Of My Reach’.
Classic southern soul.
