‘Blues People’ is the fourth studio album from Logan Richardson and immediately it’s apparent that this is no easy listening album: his use of guitar takes the notion of jazz way beyond into heavier territory especially on tracks like ‘80s Child’ and the sonic waves of ‘Hidden Figures’. ‘Country Boy’ nods to something bluesier as well as central American but again, warps the sound into a multitude of directions. ‘Class wars’ has a dub groove with some haunting horn work while ‘Urban Life’ brings a bit more jazz into the mix. This may not be for everyone – there is a heavy jazz-rock feel here – maybe more into the sphere of rock in all honesty but for those who prefer something edgier this could be something for you.
