Lyrically reactionary, musically diverse ‘Centuries Of Heat’ sees Angelo Moore And The Brand New Step refusing to stay in one stylistic box. The emphatic opener ‘Gratitude’ is a multi-layered epic with touches of Prince with its soaring groove, ‘Decompression’ is a future electro throwback track while ‘Feel The Energy’ has a lazy, summery vibe. ‘It’s Alright’ throws a leftfield spanner in the works with some twisted vocal acrobatics and a jazzy, funky free-for-all in the groove while ‘Karma Cashback’ is another strong message song with a tough, dark edged atmosphere. A lot of ‘out there’ ideas going on here.
