New Zealander Keyboardist Mark De Clive Lowe, now based in L.a., has created an amazing Deep Jazz and experimental album utilising a full band with live electronic manipulation.’Church’ features 13 tracks, including two covers with a central Spiritual theme. Many of Mark’s songs have deep and dark synth basslines and haunting melodies. ‘Bruckstep’ and ‘The Processional’ have some great instrumentation coated with electronic wizardry. His wife Nia Andrews features on three tracks ‘Hollow’, ‘Now or Never’ and the deeper ‘Distractions’ . The killer track is ‘Ghaziya’ an uptempo jam with memorable keyboard and horn riffs. The cover of Charles Earland’s ‘Mason’s Galaxy’shows how jazzy Mark can get whilst fitting perfectly within the overall album concept. Really creative album.
