Very interesting debut and concept album by the up and coming Bassist/keyboardist and vocalist Alexander Morgan Gibson Claffy. He has worked with many of the greats and on this album he is joined by 16 musicians to create a full band sound. There are some lovely melodic vocal cuts like ‘Blossoms’, ‘I’ll be seeing you’ and the Stevie influenced ‘Don’t let it bring you down’ . But it is on the instrumental ‘(Memories of) Her Flat’ where the band really take off with some fine musicianship above a great Jazz dance groove that is the albums highlight. There is an interesting interpretation of the standard ‘With a song in my heart’. If you like Snarky Puppy then Claffy is well worth checking out, you won’t be disappointed.
