Coming some eleven years after her debut album (‘Complex Simplicity’) Teedra Moses is back with her long awaited album ‘Cognac and Converation’. Moses’ effortless, sweet vocals abound on an set that sits on the soulful side of R&B though the styles vary across the 15 tracks here: ‘International Playboi’ has a dance vibe while the mellow ‘Get It Right’ has jazz touches. The deep, house groove on ‘Skin Diver’ contrasts with the stripped back balladry of ‘No Regrets’. Rick Ross guests with lyrics on a handful of tracks and the duet with Anthony Hamilton (‘That One’) is a good moment but for fans of Teedra or the soulful edge of modern R&B, this will appeal.
