Due Mid April
Deep Street Soul’s latest full length shows that when it comes to hard, uncompromising new funk these Australians certainly know how to deliver. ‘Come Alive’ races out of the blocks with the frenetic ‘Out Of The Gates’ and ‘Sweet Sugar Man’ continues apace aimed directly at the floor. The bluesy funk of ‘Soul’s Come Alive’ is a swampy mid tempo groover, ‘Messin’ With Me’ is another funk for the feet killer that will surely be a prime time spin for many while the gorgeous deep soul of ‘The Hardest Part Is Knowing’ is a welcome slow down in the eye of the storm! Kylie Auldist lends her lush tones to the authentic late 60’s sounding ‘Love On Tap’ while ‘Deux Freres’ sees the band striking out on an immense groove that combining the Meters with the New mastersounds: another strong highlight on a recommended album.
