Twenty-three tracks from the southern cities of Atlanta and Birmingham. Dorothy Norwood’s ‘Big Boat Ride’ is a superb, previously unreleased drama filled dancer, John Edwards puts a spin on Sam Dees with ‘We Always Come Back Strong’, Jean Battle’s impassioned ‘When A Woman Loves A Man’ is great, as are Judy Green’s “I Still Love You” and Rozetta Johnson’s ‘I’ve Come Too Far With You (To Turn Back Now)’. The Steppers’ ‘Come & Get It’ is a good funky dancer, Carl James & Jackie Irvin’s ‘Go Away (Get Out Of My Life)’ is also ripe for the dancefloor while Loleatta Holloway’s ‘So Can I’ and Lorraine Johnson’s ‘The Best Of My Years’ are great deep slowies.
