Ty Karim is known both for her 60’s Northern soul monsters and her 70’s modern soul and 2 steppers, all are included here plus some previously unreleased tracks. ‘Lighten Up’ is a killer 70’s modern soul mid tempo dancer, the duet with George Griffin ‘Keep On Doin Whatcha Doin’ from 1980 is two step classic that also appeals To Modern soul fans, and there’s a good unreleased version of Johnny Bristol/CB Overton ‘If I Can’t Stop’, whilst ‘It Takes Money’ is more 80’s boogie. The 60’s tracks include some fantastic Northern Soul dancers like ‘Lighten Up Baby’ , ‘You Really Make It Good To Me’, ‘You Just Don’t Know’, ‘Help Me Get That Feeling Back Again and the crossover ‘Wear Your Natural Baby’ (the latter two recorded as Towana and Total Destruction), and the prev unreleased ‘Ain’t That Love Enough’ which really tear it up. Very good compilation and a fitting tribute to an underground legend.
